What is RightNow, in one sentence?

A time-blocking app with somewhere to park everything else: you plan each day around the hours you actually have, and it tells you when the day is full. There's a longer answer in the blog post about what it is and isn't.

How is this different from every other to-do app?

Most to-do apps let the list grow forever and never mention that your day has a size. RightNow makes the size the main thing on screen. Every task carries a duration, and scheduling one for today spends that time out of a bar at the top of the screen. When the bar is full, you're told before you commit rather than at 4pm when you run out of afternoon.

Does it have an hour-by-hour timeline of my day?

Not yet. Most time-blocking tools lay the day out as a grid and you drag things into slots. RightNow does the arithmetic underneath that (what your tasks are, how long they take, whether they fit in the hours you have left) without drawing the grid. A timeline may come later.

Can I use it to remind me about things?

You can set a due date and a reminder on a task, and they work. But it isn't what the app is for, and your calendar is better at it. RightNow is about what you can do today, not what's due on the 14th. If something has to happen at a specific time, put it in your calendar. The app can even push a scheduled task into a calendar for you.

Why doesn't it move my unfinished tasks to tomorrow automatically?

Because then tomorrow's plan is made by yesterday rather than by you. Unfinished tasks go back to your inbox, get marked as yesterday's, and the next morning you're shown the list and asked what to do with each one. Adding one to today runs the same capacity check as anything else, so if it doesn't fit, you're told before you commit to it.

How do I get a task from the inbox into today?

Swipe the row for quick actions, or open the task and use the Today chip. Both work from the inbox list.

Can I reorder my day?

Yes. Drag a task on the Today screen to move it. There's also a sort option if you'd rather order by priority, due date or duration.

Will it sort by priority automatically and hide everything else?

No, and this one was a deliberate call after a tester suggested it. You can sort by priority whenever you like, but the app won't rearrange or grey out your list on your behalf. Deciding the order is the part you're supposed to be doing.

Why can't I add a task longer than an hour and a half?

The quick duration buttons stop there, but you can type any duration you want in the task editor. Long tasks are also a hint from the app's point of view: something that takes four hours is usually several tasks in disguise.

How many notifications will it send me?

Three daily nudges, plus whatever reminders you set on your own tasks. That's the lot. No streak guilt, no "we miss you", no marketing. The permission prompt says exactly that, and it stays true.

Do I need an account?

No. Without one your tasks live in an anonymous account tied to this install, and they survive app updates. What they don't survive is reinstalling the app, clearing its data, or moving to a new phone, because there's no way to sign back in to an anonymous account. If your tasks matter to you, make an account (it's free) or export them from Settings.

What does it cost?

The app is free. Premium adds cloud sync across devices, automatic backups and unlimited devices, and it's £2.99 a month, £14.99 for six months or £27.99 a year. Planning your day is not the paid part.

Where does it run?

Web and Android today. iOS is in TestFlight with external testers while it works its way towards the App Store.

Which calendars does it work with?

Google Calendar. Outlook and Apple Calendar are coming as soon as possible.

Is my data private?

Your tasks are yours. Calendar access is read-only by default and the credentials stay on your device, never on a server of mine. The privacy policy has the detail, and you can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.

Is there AI in it?

No. If that ever changes it will be a way to let your own AI read and update your own tasks, not a chatbot bolted on with the token bill passed to you.

Can I use it with my team?

No. There are no shared lists and no assigning tasks to other people. It's built for one person's day.

Is there a light theme?

Not currently. The app is dark only. If enough people ask, that can change.

How do I report a bug or ask for something?

Settings → Help & About → Send feedback, which reaches me directly, or email me. Several things in the app exist because a tester asked for them.
